My Magazine Proposal By Toby Sorsky
My Idea
My idea for my media magazine is going to be focused on the growing vibrant music scene that is known as Rap situated in North London, Rap otherwise known as grime is very popular in North London and is very popular for teenagers and young adults with many shows and concerts happening in various venues all around the area, Some major Grime Artists that have, As you can see by the logo this one represents North London, my plan is that my magazine will be so popular that I can start applying this to different locations.
Form / Genre / Content
The name of my magazine will be called 'Life Of Rap' because I feel that represents how much of an impact it has had on North London, the 'Life' means that it is has grown up a lot through the years and there are so many different grime artists publishing new songs and albums.
The types of things featured especially in my magazine will have information about venues that are hosting shows, and about the wild lifestyle that they live and influence they have on this musical genres, my main genre of choice is going to be Grime, Grime is a music Genre that has emerged in North London in the early 2000's it had developed out of other music genres like UK garage and jungle.
The content of the magazine will have a various mix of pictures followed by detailed text supporting it, I will try get interviews with up and coming artists and will show as much evidence as possible
I will use colourful background with big titles to attract the young teenagers with lots of exiting news with always keeping those up to date with who is going to perform where and what songs they could be performing, when i have my formal ideas and designs ready I will give copy out to other designers and teenagers maybe asking what they think as reviews are always a very positive good thing to get and give my magazine a good reputation.
Font Styles
These are some of the font style I will use, and what they will look like using various random phrases, I think they are suitable because of the dark colour and tone which represents the dark
streets and culture that grime is based around.

Inspiration:

Another magazine I have researched into is a local enfiled music magazine, I have got some inspritration and ideas from this as apart from the genre both our magazines want to promote our magazine round to our local audience, although our differences in Psycographics and Demographics are very different, the layout of this magazine and certain features and content have very similar feautres and aspects. This helped me massively with my magazine and gave me a massive influence
My magazine comes with lots of strengths which can prove that it will be successful on the market, as it will target the young market of north london full of young adults who will love it, another strength of my magazine is the very cheap pricing which gives it a major advantage over the other competitors, also there are always local rappers performing and releasing new songs, so if there is an unlimited supply of songs being written this leads to them contacting venues and me always having content to supply my consumers with.

Audience: Demographics and Psychographics:
My main primary target audience will be focused on young adults aged around 15 - 18 year olds, I also think that both genders male and female will both in interested in the north London music genre of Rap, Demographic wise, groups that this applies to will mostly be around 'E' becuase as teenagers most of them will unemployed, but they will still be able to buy one off ticket to venues to see these rappers, my assumptions about my audience is that they do not want to be left behind and always want to bee up to date with their friends on social media they can do this by buying my magazine, it makes it so much easy for them then scanning all over the internet but instead they can just get my magazine and find out whats going on and where all over North London, My magazine applies to the audience as easy information to their interests , this genre is so popular because anyone can purchase a ticket and download and listen to this music, looking at the Psychographics side since the targeted age group is quite young, i expect those with energetic lively personalities that love going to concerts will be interested in the magazine, My magazine will have advertisements on maybe sales on certain tickets to venues with rappers performing, it will say What they could performing, When they are performing it and so on.
Assumptions about the audience
I assume that my magazine will instantly stand out the audience when sitting on the shevles or tables in stores, also I think that when they see it, they will straight away be interest by the colours, titles as it will relat to them and what they like, in this case it is Rap in North London, I also assume that they will show it to their fredins and maybe others at the music venues and becuase of hundrends of people will be there having fun and talking to eachother the worl will eventually spread, this will help with marketing and advertising alot.

Layout and Features:
As you can see for my front cover sketch I have added a huge logo and masthead at the top of the page because this is where most of the customers would initially look, also since i target a younger age audience I have used lots of Puffs and Images spaced around the page because this will attract them and give them an insight of to what will be featured in the magazine. As in the same aspect of my double page sketch there are various images followed by coverlid and text to keep them interested.
Advertising and Marketing
As the main genre of my magazine is Rap, also taking into care that one of the most popular things that teenagers use every day is Social media, so this makes me think that a very efficient way of marketing and advertising my magazine is through social media sites, for example making Facebook pages and using Twitter, by using these you can focus on specific target audiences that like your magazine, you can ask them what they think about it?, would they buy it?, is the price good?, by doing this over time you are gaining followers and possible customers for my magazine, another useful source of funding is through letting other music venues and producers advertise their product, another great way of advertising is by handing out some free sample magazines to show people what they could be using for information etc, also Facebook for example have access to information like peoples interests and what they like that the put on their public profile so doing this we can pay to easily access and find potential customers to advertise too,
Justify
The reason for me specifically using social media sites is because it is home to millions of teenagers who are interested in my type of genre, so this is the most effective way to get their attention, another reason why I think social media sites are the most effective way is because there are around 2.3 Billion active social media users, all with different interests in music and genre. Also a just affection for distributing at other music venues i.es because your are directly accessing your target market of young teenagers that are into it already.

Inspiration:
To prove my idea is not just a waste of time and money, there are many other magazines alike mine that are very popular, for example major magazines like XXL, Pound And Connection etc, all of these magazines are very successful and have people always buying their product, because they want to keep up with the latest things that are going on, as you can see in this picture of the front cover of XXL they use various colours to contrast the main name of the rapper drake and bring out the title XXL, i like how they place him at the center of page as he is the center of attention
